LostWorlds Map Editor 8

This site is disappointingly unpopular lately, I feel like I need to breathe some life back into it.  Anyways, I figure I may as well keep progress posted on here, seeing as it was made for that and I got rid of my old website, so I guess this is my new blog.

I have been adding a bunch of things to the map editor, as well as fixing whatever bugs that are still hiding deep within the code of this beast.  I took a nice break from development, and now I feel refreshed and efficient again.

I recently added texture cycles, a great new feature that many have overlooked.  It was originally decided, after some debate, that they were not important and wouldn't be added.  However, I put some thought into an easy way to integrate them, and behold, they are complete (it wasn't that hard after all...).

I also did some research and poking around with texture stages, and concluded that you only need four.  At first, I had decided that I would include all of the "layers", but there was a bug that was keeping bumpmapping (and some other stuff) from working.  Plus, the engine only uses four stages, and just overwrites them as you change automatic stages.  So, I fixed it (in the above video).

Also, my favorite and perhaps the reason I initially wanted to include plugins in the editor: the road generator!  This versatile new tool can make complex roads, tunnels, walls/mazes, and anything else your imagination conjures up.  It's great because I remember back when I tried to model a road manually and failed miserably, let alone had nice texturing on it.  This this creates perfect roads extremely quickly, great for people like me lacking road models, or for people who simply want to make an awesome looking mesh that fits perfectly into their map.  Here's a vid:

And another with a temple (ever since I recently got that great CamStudio app, I've been crapping out these little videos by the dozen):

Since that video, I have added a few extra things, including a bumpmapped floor (and a celing, but I don't have an image posted), both made with the road generator.  See the media section for a ton of pics of this thing.

And that's pretty much all, folks.  More info to come.
